Our Story

Reimers Memorial Auditorium stands as a testament to community spirit and artistic expression in Hammond, Louisiana. Built in 1950 by the Reimers family in honor of their son, Navy Lt. Frederick Reimers, who tragically lost his life at sea during World War II, the theater has become a cornerstone of the local cultural scene.

Designed by architect John Desmond, the auditorium is part of the First Christian Church complex and is noted for its Mid-Century Modern architectural style, blending clean lines with regional design elements Hammond Historic District. This unique design has contributed to its recognition in the community and beyond.

Over the decades, Reimers has hosted a variety of events, from gospel and bluegrass concerts to theatrical productions and community gatherings. Its intimate setting and rich acoustics make it an ideal venue for both performers and audiences seeking a personal and engaging experience.
